This Timberskin drink cooler is designed to be a high-quality maintenance-free item. We think that they add a great touch to any occasion and are good conversation starters. The color of the wood as you see it is the natural timber tone and it will vary from cooler to cooler depending on where the timber slice we make these from is within the wood slab. The silver style is near the slab edge. The golden tones come from the heartwood.
Images are indicative of this timbers’ features and colors, and so your cooler will be similar but not exactly the same.

We know this, because we are told often. We sell these at the Port Douglas market each weekend and these coolers are the answer to the question of what to buy men. Designed and exclusively made by Pickers Ridge in far north Queensland, you will have trouble finding a better solution for what to buy a man for his birthday.
About this wood.
Silkwood Maple is a wonderful timber. It can be mistaken for Qld Maple and has even been marketed under that name by some. These coolers were produced from a slab we bought 3 years ago. The slab/s (we bought several) had been milled by chainsaw mill about 20 years ago…ish, so are dry, stable, and ready to be made into wonderful products. This timber steam bends well, has no issues doing what we ask of it when bending. Some timbers are recalcitrant to the extreme. Silkwood Maple is not commonly available these days, and we don’t expect to come across much in the future. If we were to be asked “what is your favorite wood?”, this species would be close to the top of the list.
