Tulip Oak Floorboard Timberskin stubby cooler

$85.00

These stubby coolers are our favorite. Made from 100-year-old floorboards from a community dance floor, we believe these drink coolers are an epic way to use recycled floorboards. It took three years of planning and waiting for the right secondhand floorboards to be found, and these Timberskin coolers are the result of that process.

Made and designed to be used, they are maintenance free and are probably the best conversation starter you could have while enjoying a beer. They come with original nail-hole staining on every cooler. Seriously cool. Limited stocks available, and once gone… gone forever.

Looking for a Unique Australian Gift?

How about these coolers?

These coolers answer all the questions about buying a present for the man in your life. Typical questions like the ones below.

What Aussie Gift to Buy a Man for his Birthday.

Get him a stubby cooler with a story behind it. A Timberskin cooler. Buying a birthday present for him is made simple with a floorboard cooler. They are an extremely unique gift idea and are very limited in numbers. We have the wood to make only a few hundred and that will be all.

What Australian Gift to buy Men.

We can be pretty difficult to buy for, we know. We don’t intend to be, it just happens. We do love surprises though. A unique gift idea with a purpose.

Searching for a Souvenir from Australia?

Look no further. These coolers make great souvenirs from Australia. They are made from Australian hardwoods, they hold beer, they look great, they are maintenance free, and they are only available from a small Australian family owned and run business.

Why is this range of Timberskins different?

The history of the floorboards these stubby coolers are made from is really interesting. The tree was milled in the Atherton Tablelands district sometime in the early 1900’s and was laid as a community hall floor. Typically used for dances and large groups of people, the floorboards were milled thicker than standard flooring boards, and that has allowed us to re-purpose the boards like we have.

The hall was in use until sometime around WW2 when it was either dismantled or relocated (we cannot find accurate info at this time). Some of the flooring was taken to a local sporting club and used as flooring until about 2015 where the sport venue building fell into disrepair and was demolished. The flooring was taken and stored for 7 years in a demolition yard where we discovered it.

We estimate the age of the tree to be 200-250 years old when cut down. Our educated guess is the tree was approximately 70 years old when Cook bumped into Cooktown.
